Brandywine Health Foundation Grant brings life saving AEDs

December 23, 2016

This week we were notified by Ms. Dana Heiman, Interim CEO of the Brandywine Health Foundation, that they will fund the purchase of two Phillips Heartstart FRX AEDs. A total of $3,840 was awarded.

The AEDs will be placed on our first-out apparatus and will replace units that are outdated and no longer supported by the manufacturer.

The grant application was submitted by Jared Dalmas, a firefighter/paramedic with KVFD and a member of our Board of Directors.

Mr. Dalmas said,"The funding of this project will directly impact the health and wellness of the overall population within the region by providing us with equipment that will enable us to make a difference during the critical initial moments of a sudden cardiac arrest, where seconds mean the difference between life and death."

Fire Chief Robby Cazillo said,"We greatly appreciate the partnership of the Brandywine Health Foundation and all those sponsors and Strawberry Festival attendees who helped fund this project. The Brandywine Health Foundation has made a huge commitment to the area's residents and the public safety community. We especially appreciate those grants that went to the funding of a "State of the Art" Public Safety Training Center in South Coatesville that will serve us and First Responders on the East Coast for decades."

The AEDs will be soon purchased and immediately deployed on our first-out apparatus. As part of our annual training plan, all KVFD firefighters will be undergoing annual CPR/AED training next month. #kvfd84U
