Today at 1610 hours KVFD was dispatched to the unit block of East Second Ave in Parkesburg for an Appliance Fire reported as a dryer.

Ladder and Chief 8 responded and received reports of Parkesburg PD on scene with residents evacuated and a smoke condition inside.

Ladder 8 arrived on scene and found that the laundry in the clothes dryer had caught fire. Luckily the fire was contained to the dryer. Crews removed the dryer from the basement of the house and checked for extensions. Once outside the burnt clothes were removed and the dryer and clothes were sprayed down. Chief 8 place the fire under control as crews placed 2 ventilation fans into service to clear out the residence.

Crews operated on scene for about 30 minutes before turning the house back over to the homeowner.
