Preparing Stone for the Central Station Project

Today, 12 KVFD members volunteered their time to sort through stone at the Brandywine Quarry and prepare the best pieces for use at the new Central Station. The stone was recycled from the old station, stored at the quarry over the last few months, and then cleaned by firefighters. The stone will be cut by the quarry and then used by contractors renovating the Central Station.

It’s estimated that this project saved about $20K!

Thanks to all of the members who donated their time and labor over the last few weeks to get this project completed.

Thanks also to Brandywine Quarry for allowing us to store our stone during this project and Josh Jones for the use of the front end loader.
