This morning at 4:52 AM, KVFD was dispatched to a kitchen fire, flames coming from the fryer, initially reported as being contained, at the McDonald's restaurant in West Sadsbury Township. Ass't Chief Klingler was on the first arriving unit, Ladder 8, and upon arrival found flames coming from the roof. He then looked in the drive-in window, and found a fire ball at the fryer. Ass't Chief Klingler immediately asked the County to upgrade the assignment to a building fire. This added the Sadsburyville Fire Co., Honey Brook Fire Company and the Gap Fire Company to the assignment.

Firefighters went to work extinguishing the fryer fire with dry-chem extinguishers while others opened up the roof, and extinguished any fire extension with a hose line. There were no injuries but the restaurant did sustain significant damage.

The fire is under investigation by the Chester County Fire Marshal. All units were clear by 6:31 AM.
