The Keystone Valley Regional Fire District; responsible for overseeing fire and ambulance protecting in Parkesburg Borough, West Sadsbury Township and parts of Highland and Sadsbury Township, is accepting resumes for the job of Fire District Administrator. A review committee will be established at the District's April meeting, Tuesday April 16 at 7:00 pm, to review resumes. Currently the Commission is looking for a commitment of eight (8) hours a month with salary yet to be determined by the Commission.


JOB DESCRIPTION – March 19, 2013


TITLE: Fire District Administrator

DEPARTMENT: Keystone Valley Regional Fire District

REPORTS TO: Keystone Valley Regional Fire District Commission

GENERAL SUMMARY: Acts as the day to day liaison between the Keystone Valley Fire Department (KVFD) and the Fire District, develops grant programs and other funding streams for KVFD and District operations, provides recommendations on emergency service delivery methods, policies and procedures

I- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Confer with and make recommendations to the District and KVFD regarding projects and programs that effect the health, welfare and safety of the community
• Confer with and make recommendations to the District and KVFD regarding services such as ambulance and fire service, emergency management coordination, NIMS training
• Make presentations on funding needs issues to various groups, including Municipal Officials, commissions, boards, committees, task forces at on and off-site public meetings.
• Participate in community events as requested
• Confer with and make recommendations to the District and KVFD regarding policies and procedures as requested
• File a monthly report with the District outlining activities, needs and expenditures
• Confer with and make recommendations to the District and KVFD on annual budget
• Such other duties as required by the District Commission

**This job summary includes, but is not limited to, the positions essential functions. The District Commission retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: The Fire District Administrator shall have a High School Diploma, Associate's Degree (Bachelors' preferred) in Fire Science or related field desirable and other equivalent training as deemed necessary by the District Commission.

Knowledge / Skills:

• Advanced knowledge in fire fighting and emergency response procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of Fire Service operational guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Advanced knowledge of Fire District policies and procedures.

Abilities:

• Ability to mentally and physically handle stressful situations
• Ability to coordinate multiple situations where shifting priorities and schedules require ongoing evaluation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format.
• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate reports.
• Ability to formulate and present public education programs with regard to fire and life-safety practices.


Working Conditions:

Administrative duties involve normal business office activities with varying daytime and nighttime hours
