Rural Water Supply and Tanker Operations

By KVFD
April 22, 2014

Our Monday night training brought 42 active members to the East Station where Ass't Chief Cazillo first briefed all on the use of the new "I AM Responding" software, (see www.iamresponding.com) This software allows members to respond via a "smartphone app" or by a toll-free call-in number, and report that they received the County dispatch page and their status on the response. The software tracks and reports those responses so that the Command staff and officers know who is or will soon be on-station to staff the apparatus.

Another feature of the software is that all hydrant locations in the Borough of Parkesburg and Atglen are now uploaded in the software and displayed on a map.

Deputy Chief Brian Gathercole briefed all on the night's training using Tanker 8, and Engine 8-3 to supply water to several hoses and a Master Stream device while Engine 8-1 connected to a hydrant at the front of the station and filled Tanker 8. A portable tank was set up to supply Engine 8-3. FF/EMT Jared Dalmas reviewed rural water supply and tanker ops on a brief Powerpoint before the evolution started.

This training series continues with a large evolution involving KVFD and other departments at the Bellaire Business Park on Saturday.

Please note there may be local traffic restrictions in the area on Saturday.
