September 6, 2014

Today's hard hitting storm brought multiple dispatches for KVFD and surrounding departments. At 3:00 PM, during the height of the storm, we were dispatched to assist Station#27 with a tree/wires call in Steelville on King Road. Engine 8-2 responded but was recalled before arrival.

At 3:05 PM, KVFD was dispatched for a water rescue, a car that was floating in high water on S. Culvert Street. Ambulance 8-2, Ladder 8, and Tac 8 responded. Upon arrival it was discovered that residents had assisted the driver and an occupant, and pushed the car to higher ground. There were no injuries, and no services necessary.

At 3:31 PM, EMS Lt. Taylor had been monitoring a tree/wires call involving high power lines on Amtrak property near Zeke's and North Street in Pomeroy. KVFD was dispatched and responded but found there wasn't much that could be done until Amtrak/PECO Energy de-energized the lines. (See our Facebook page for a video).

At 5:13 PM, KVFD was dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at A. Duie Pyle. Ambulance 8-2, Ladder 8 and Engine 8-2 responded. Upon arrival employees were found onpsite working and verified that there wasw no fire, and it was accidental/malfunction. Ass't Chief Cazillo notified County Fire Radio to make it a "Chief Notification" vs. a fire dispatch until the system is checked.
