November 6, 2014

On Thursday morning, November 6, 2014, at 6:30 AM, the Keystone Valley Fire Department along with Brandywine Hospital Medic 93 were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident on Route#30 at Commons Drive in West Sadsbury Township.

Ambulance 8-2 made the response and while doing so, Chester County Fire Radio advised they would be adding a second and third ambulance along with a second Medic unit from 93 due to reports of multiple patients. CCFR also advised that the accident involved a tractor trailer and a sedan.

Rescue 8 (with Chief 8) made the response along with Tac 8 and the second ambulance from Station 8 (Ambulance 8-1). Additional ambulances from Christiana Community Ambulance, Lancaster County and White Horse Fire Company were added to the accident.

Upon arrival of Ambulance 8-2, they upgraded the incident to entrapment. Rescue 8 arrived on-scene with Chief 8 assuming the "Route 30 Command" and Rescue 8 assuming the CP. The updated report from Chief 8 was no entrapment with four (4) victims.

The entrapment provided an upgrade to Station 8 on the call and added a Rescue from Gap Fire Company. Gap Rescue 42 responded with 8 firefighters.

On-scene personnel had four (4) patients. Care was being rendered; and Command requested a fire police task force due to the amount of traffic at the time and the severity of the accident.

Pennsylvania State Police arrived on-scene and handled the investigation along with traffic coordination.

Rescue 42 was cancelled on-scene. Ambulance 8-2, Christiana ambulance 46, and Ambulance 8-1 transported patients to Lancaster General Hospital with White Horse ambulance 49 remaining to cover the District. While on-scene covering the District, they were dispatched to a medical emergency with SCCEMS Medic 94 in the District.

Traffic units from across Western Chester County were arrived and assisted with traffic control. Rescue and Tac 8 remained on-scene assisting troopers.

Fire units cleared leaving the scene turned over to troopers and Fire Police. All Fire Police cleared the scene at 0857 hours.

The Keystone Valley Fire Department Officers and members would like to extend their thoughts and prayers to those involved in the accident.
