On Sunday, March 29, 2015, KVFD Firefighters traveled to West Chester Fire Training Center to utilize their burn building for live fire training focusing on hose line management.

Personnel were able to train with members from Thorndale Fire Company and East Whiteland Fire Company. KVFD Past Chief Stackhouse coordinated the training, and based it on the last four weeks of hose line advancement, and hose line management training he conducted. Chief Stackhouse attended several training classes this past year including Nozzle Forward and was able to share his knowledge and focus our training on our response guide and crew roles/running assignments. November’s Traditions Training on Engine and Ladder Company Operations also was part of this knowledge base.

Firefighters used those skills and executed them in live fire conditions using Engines 8-2 and Engine 38.

Chief Brian Gathercole said,“We thank the Modena Fire Company Engine 37-2 for covering the KVFD District while our members conducted training. Although Engine 37-2 did not respond to any calls for us, they did however respond to assist Station#23 later in the day as staffed engine company to assist at a working house fire.”

He said,”Thanks also to the West Chester Fire Training Center for allowing us to once again utilize your facility to improve our operations.”
