As 7:50 PM last night, KVFD EMS responded to 9 calls in a 24 hour period, with four more incidents being covered by our neighbor's EMS units because Ambulance 8-1 was committed on a call.

One of those calls, dispatched at 6:12 AM, was a cardiac arrest in an alley in the Borough of Parkesburg. It resulted in what appeared to be a successful cardiac arrest save. KVFD Firefighter/EMTs Dave Wallace, Justin Shultz and J. McCully responded in Ambulance 8-1 with Firefighter/EMT Stephanie Klingler, and Captain Bob Guiney (who is also a paramedic), responding direct to assist. Also as part of the team we had Brandywine Hospital paramedics, Scot Kreger and Andrew O'Donnell, and Parkesburg police officers, Bo Story and Christopher Scavichio.

FF/EMT McCully described the response as the smoothest like clockwork cardiac arrest he has ever been on. He said,"Cool, and calm teamwork, pure textbook. You all ROCK!"

Our prayers and thoughts are with all we helped yesterday.

This is just one of the many recent calls where KVFD with our ALS partners have responded to patients in imminent danger of death, and employed appropriate interventions resulting in a significant life saving improvement in the patient's condition upon arrival at the ER.

Way to go!
