KVFD was contacted several weeks ago by Chief Piatelli of the North East Fire Company and asked to provide a rescue and crew yesterday.

The North East Fire Company had three events occurring that is estimated to bring over 30,000 people a day into the area. The events were the ESPN Huk Performance Fishing Bassmaster Elite at Chesapeake Bay, Lucas Oil NHRA Drag Races at the track, and a boat show.

Rescue 8 arrived at Station 4 around 8:00 AM and met with Chief Piatelli and awaited orders. Before Chief was able to brief the crews, Station 4 was alerted for an Accident with Entrapment. Rescue 8 responded with Rescue 4 and arrived on-scene to find a single vehicle accident with 1 occupant still inside. Paramedics deemed that the patient did not require extraction via hydraulic tools.

After the accident Rescue 8, returned to Station 4 and was briefed of the days events. Rescue 8 was assigned to Station 4 until 1430 hours and then was detailed to Station 44 in Elk Neck until 1800 hours when we were released from the assignment. No other calls were handled by Rescue 8.
