At 3:31 PM, as KVFD and Cochranville firefighters were clearing a field fire in Highland Township on Limestone Road at Friendship Church Road, they were dispatched to a house fire in the 700 block of W. Eighth Avenue in the Borough of Parkesburg. The caller advised Chester County 9-1-1 that there was smoke in the basement. This was confirmed by first arriving Parkesburg police units and resulted in an upgrade to a working fire dispatch.

Engine 27-1 along with Tanker 27 were already staffed and responding as well as Tac 8. Engine 8-2 made the response as well.

Captain 8-A (Guiney) arrived on-scene and Assumed the W. Eighth Ave Command and Captain 8 (Schreiber) assumed the interior Officer.

Cochranville's Engine 27-1 was the first arriving fire apparatus and the crew immediately deployed a handline to the basement and extinguished a room and contents fire while Engine 8-2 laid an LDH supply line from the hydrant. Crews then assisted with ventilation and checked for any extension. The Chester County Fire Marshals office responded and the incident is under investigation but is believed to be accidental in nature.

The WFD brought units from 31, 44, Lancaster 4-2, Medic 93 which were recalled. The incident was held to the units on-scene.

All units were clear by 4:47 PM.
