John Weer named Chief Fire Marshal

The Chester County Department of Emergency Services is pleased to announce that John Weer has been named Chester County Chief Fire Marshal.

Since 2008, John has served as the Assistant Chief Fire Marshal for the Chester County Department of Emergency Services (DES). His responsibilities have included assisting Chester County fire and police departments, along with the Chester County District Attorney’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police with fire scene investigations. John also supervised and administered the Chester County Juvenile Fire Setters program.

John started his career with DES in 1988 as a Hazardous Materials Response Team member. In 1994, he went on to serve as Fire/Rescue Training Coordinator where his primary role was the coordination of all training logistics for fire first responders in Chester County.

In addition to his role at DES, John serves on the Pennsylvania Fire Certification Advisory Board as the Fire/Arson Technical Expert along with being a suppression instructor at the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.

Outside of DES, John is a responding volunteer firefighter with over 35 years of experience. He is a past fire chief and currently serves as trustee for the Po-Mar-Lin Volunteer Fire Company. Additionally, he is an active member of the Chester County Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Band.

Keystone Valley Fire Department congratulates John Weer on his accomplishment.

Fire Marshal Weer has assisted KVFD many times over his career and we look forward to the continued working relationship.
