Hear the Beep While You Sleep

UPDATE: The team visited 17 homes, installed 13 smoke detectors and replaced nine batteries. Many bags of preparedness information were also left at the front doors where no was at home.

Today, KVFD partnered with the American Red Cross, Emergency Management Coordinators from Parkesburg Borough, West Sadsbury Township and Highland Township, County and local fire marshals to deliver, install, and inspect smoke detectors in our community. We also reviewed fire safety, replaced batteries and distributed a bag of American Red Cross safety material to residents.

Areas of high-density population in Parkesburg and Pomeroy were targeted by crews working door to door from Rescue 8, Tac 8, Ambulance 8-2 and Utility 8 while several residents who scheduled appointments in advance were also served.

Thanks to our amazing friends at the American Red Cross for your support with volunteers, the materials and most importantly the smoke detectors.

Our goal in this effort is to get a working smoke detector in every home. But the ideal is to install one in every bedroom.

KVFD will continue to provide this community outreach throughout the year. If you need a smoke detector or have any questions please email us now at smokedetector@kvfd8.com

Keep your family safe with a working smoke alarm in every bedroom.

Did you know that roughly half of home fire deaths result from fires reported between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. when most people are asleep?

Smoke alarms save lives. If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out. In fact, having a working smoke alarm cuts the chances of dying in a reported fire in half!
