Last night was the graduation ceremony for Chester County's new Firefighter - I students. KVFD had two students attending this course, Matt Crockett and Josh Jones.

Chief Gathercole said,"Taking the time away from your personal lives and most importantly your family to dedicate 172 hours to your professional career as firefighters means something not just to yourself, your department but to your community."

Firefighter Crockett and Firefighter Jones will receive the certification from the State identifying them as Interior Firefighters."This is a major accomplishment in their careers as firefighters and shows that hard work and dedication pays off."

KVFD had two firefighters attending this course: Matt Crockett and Josh Jones. Both firefighters are new members, joining KVFD in 2015 and they completed basic vehicle rescue courses this Summer.

Firefighter I is a 172-hour “recruit” level basic firefighting course. The goal of the course is to provide a person with little or no previous fire service training or experience with the basic knowledge and skills required to function safely and effectively as a member of a fire suppression team functioning in today’s environment. Students will also receive training in Haz Mat Operations, CPR/AED, and Structural Burn. The final test will be for PA State Volunteer certification and National Firefighter I.

Course # 15112002

Certification: Pennsylvania State Fire Academy - NIMS IS-700, Haz Mat Operations, Blood Borne Pathogens, Structural Burn Session. Students will be tested for Hazardous Materials Operations certification.

FF Jones and Crockett were given praise by instructors on their hard work and dedication. They wanted to prove themselves as well as represent KVFD well at the CCPSTC.
