On Monday, February 1, 2016, KVFD was notified of two grant awards from the 2015-16 Pa State Fire Commissioner's, Fire Company Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.

We received an award of $47,834.12 for use in fire department operations and an award of $14,401.70 for use in emergency medical service operations. These funds will be utilized for the purchase of new portable radios. With the purchase of these radios, the KVFD will have enough portable radios for every seated riding position on our Fire/EMS apparatus. This greatly enhances the safety of our members during emergency incidents.

The new County radio system required new radios and only some of those were purchased and issued to responders. It is up the organizations to purchase the remainder. Each radio with accessories and a maintenance contract is priced at over $4,000.

Thanks to the PA Fire Commissioner Tim Solobay for the awards and especially to Firefighter/Paramedic Jared Dalmas, who as a member of our Board of Directors, works tirelessly on the grant application submissions.
