Busy Sunday

KVFD has multiple members working incidents and details, and at training today. It's also been a very busy day for firefighters throughout the County.

This morning, six firefighters attended a work detail moving the contents of the Atglen station to other storage locations and cleaning out what is no longer needed.

Our EMS unit has been busy running calls all day while fire police were assisting with traffic and parking at the community fundraiser for the Fourth Avenue fire victims at the VFW.

Chief Gathercole was instructing on search and rescue at the Firefighter I class held at the Chester County Public Safety Training Campus and attended by FF Hunter Stiebritz and FF/EMT Justin Shultz.

Another crew responded to assist West Grove in Engine 8-2, and four other firefighters represented KVFD at the very successful community fundraiser.

At that fundraiser, PIO Mango on behalf of the Gary Sensenig family, Power Man Electric and Dave Boozer, was able to present a check for $500.00 to the families, proceeds from the March 19th No-Limit Texas Hold-em Poker Tournament. He was also honored to present almost $900.00 raised by Candy-Canes for Christ to the families. Candy-Canes for Christ has partnered with KVFD in other fundraisers for local fire victims.

Throughout the afternoon, our fire police assisted attendees in parking and community members came together to care for the fire victims.

State Senator Andy Dinniman and Reggie from Rep. Hank Lewis' office were in attendance.

The event was a partnership between the Parkesburg VFW, the Parkesburg Area Special Events Committee (Community Day) and many residents and businesses.

It was a huge success. Thanks to our awesime community!
