We were proud to host the 2016 Face of America Ride today. Around noon, approximately 80 bicyclists and 20 or so support staff from the ride took a break at our Central Station. They had lunch, did a water re-supply and to used the restrooms before heading off into Lancaster County.

This route was a trial run and organizers were pleased so far with it's success. They expect the north route could grow to have as many as 500 riders next year.

Thanks to our career staff, especially FF/EMT Brian Barrett, and FF/EMT Chris Straub, Chief Engineer Gary Myers, Capt. Josh Schreiber, Ass't Engineer Geoffrey Burkhard, FP Lt. Bob Linsinbigler, Ass't Chief Rich Klingler, PIO Pete Mango, and Jr. Capt. Peter Mango for their work today supporting the bicyclists and setting up/tearing down the tables and chairs.

See our Facebook page for several videos.

Change Lives with World T.E.A.M. Sports this April

Face of America 2016

Competitors join the non-profit World T.E.A.M. Sports in their our annual Face of America bicycle and hand cycle ride April 22-24, 2016.

Presented by Capital One Bank, participants can select between our classic two-day bicycle ride from the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia to the historic battlefields of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, or our new two-day northern route, from historic Valley Forge, Pennsylvania to Gettysburg. Each route honors our military — veterans and active duty, both disabled and able-bodied — and celebrates the American Spirit.

Cyclists on the classic route from Arlington travel 110 miles in two days, with an overnight stay in Frederick. Cyclists on the new northern route travel 120 miles in two days, with an overnight stay in Mountville, just west of Lancaster. Each ride is fully-supported with rest stops, SAG wagons and mechanic support. Either of these challenging ride options provide an opportunity to welcome disabled and able-bodied servicemen and women as teammates and to show them how much we appreciate their service and dedication to the country.

Cyclists in the Northern Route will be coming from westbound on Strasburg Road in East Fallowfield to Rt.#372 westbound and stopping at our Central Station briefly for a meal break. They will then continue west on 1st Ave to a right on S. Culvert, left on Main Street, right on Wright St to Rosemont Ave, right on to Young St to Strasburg Avenue/Road to Rt.#41, then northbound to 741 and Strasburg Road.
