On Monday night at 8:23 PM, KVFD was dispatched to a chimney fire at house in the 200 block of Lenover Road in Highland Township.

The resident reported that their chimney was on fire and they were evacuating the house.

Firefighters responded and arrived to find a working fire in the chimney. The resident advised that she went to add a log to the fire box and noticed a noise coming from the fire box. Upon going outside and checking there were flames coming out of the top of the chimney. Firefighters used chimney chains in attempt to breakup the buildup in the chimney.

Highland Township Fire Marshal requested that the FD remove the fire box from the residence due to the amount of unsafe buildup in the flue. The flue pipe and fire box were removed. The resident was advised to get a chimney sweep company to clean the chimney.

All units were clear by 9:33 PM.
