This Monday night KVFD personnel met at the East Station (Pomeroy) to conduct ventilation and saw practices training led by Fire Lieutenant Tim (Hacksaw) Reynolds.

Personnel first were able to identify what saws were carried on KVFD equipment and what the makes and types were. KVFD carries a saw on everyone unit except the Ambulances. Each saw was identified and explained along with the KVFD Standard Operating Guideline for saws.

Once everyone understood the saws, crews were broken into four (4) groups and sent outside to stations that were designated. Lt. Reynolds prepped for several weeks and completed props for members to practice on. Props included shingle roofs, tin roofs, and rubber roofs were different blades were shown and used on the saws.

A prop including a structure at the East Station was used to simulate being on a roof. Personnel were able to identify the type of roof and able to cut the material as if we were operating in live conditions.

Great teamwork and dedication by the members attending. Awesome training led by Lt. Reynolds.
