On Friday at 11:46 AM, KVFD with assisting mutual aid units were dispatched to a reported house fire in the Borough of Parkesburg at 104 E. Second Avenue. The reporting person advised that there was smoke showing from the second floor and it was unknown if anyone was home. The Sadsburyville Fire Company, Cochranville Fire Company, and Gap Fire Company were dispatched to assist along with EMS units from Coatesville City. Coatesville's Ladder 41-1 also responded.

Deputy Chief Erik Brecht of the Sadsburyville Fire Co. was the first on the scene and reported heavy smoke and a dog in the home. He was able to get the dog out. Chief Brecht then assisted in the command structure. Ladder 8 arrived and Ass't Chief Klingler and FF Pillotti immediately deployed a 1 3/4" line and extinguished the kitchen fire. Another line was later pulled to wet down debris during overhaul.

The fire was contained to just the kitchen primarily because many of the interior doors were shut.
The Christiana and Gap Fire companies covered our station until our units were back in service.

Parkesburg Police and the Chester County Fire Marshals assisted. The incident was closed at 1:01 PM.
