At 5:08 PM, KVFD was dispatched and responded to the Planet Fitness in Parkesburg for an odor of gas. The building was evacuated by Planet Fitness staff. Upon arrival of Chief Officers they assumed command along with reporting that there was a strong odor of gas present in the area. Parkesburg Police Officers were on-scene and evacuating the building and parking-lot.

Engine 8 arrived to the rear of the structure and took the assignment of securing the utilities as Ladder 8 took position and crews went to to the roof.

Ladder 8's Investigation on the roof revealed that a gas line was found broken on the roof. The gas was shut off at the meter and firefighters ventilated the gym and office area of Planet Fitness. PECO was requested to respond along with property management.

Planet Fitness will be closed until further notice and the incident was turned over to property management. At 5:56 PM KVFD cleared the incident and terminated command.
