On Saturday April 24th, KVFD personnel joined with crews from Cochranville Fire Company, Modena Fire Company & Gap Fire Company (Lancaster County) as they conducted a joint training series at the West Chester Fire Training Center.

Personnel were able to train in interior and exterior evolutions of firefighting. This training was conducted as part of our joint training with mutual-aid companies and to enhance fire suppression experiences for some of the newer firefighters within the organizations and also for a training day of a live burn.

Thanks to everyone that took part and keep training!

While returning to Station, Westwood Fire Company received a call at 1600 hours at 300 block of Strode Avenue in Valley Township for an automatic fire alarm. Arriving on-scene Engine 44-5 received a report from the on site staff that there was smoke in the building.

Chief McWilliams established the Harrison House Command and requested a building fire response. This upgrade brought automatic aid of fire and EMS units that were on the upgrade. Engine 8 staffed with several personnel advised Chief 44 we were in the area and made the response to assist Westwood Fire Company.

Engine 8 arrived on-scene and assisted with ventilation and manpower. Engine 8 cleared and returned back to quarters at 1732 hours.
