Smoke in the Building Response at the Walmart Store in West Sadsbury

Keystone Valley Fire Department along with Station # 42 (Gap), Sadsburyville Engine 31-1, Station 33 for the RIT and Westwood EMS were dispatched to Walmart Store at 100 Commons Drive at 0107 hours this morning for smoke in the building.

Chester County Fire Radio advised smoke was coming from wires in the ceiling in the cooler section of the store.

Chief 8 arrived on-scene at 0110 hours to find the building evacuated and store employees reporting a fire in the grocery section of the store. Upon investigating a light smoke condition was found inside the grocery section of the store and isolated to the cooler section of Walmart.

Apparatus responding were directed to the source of the problem. Crews investigated and contained the incident to one of the industrial cooling units in the refrigerated section.

Personnel on-scene from the companies dispatched staged outside the structure as crews from Gap Truck 42 and KVFD Ladder 8 investigated on the roof top. The incident was contained inside the cooler section with no exposures.

The incident was placed under control at 0128 hours by "Walmart Command".

Upon making contact with Walmart representatives the property was turned back over to Walmart with property maintenance made aware of the problem.

The incident was cleared at 0212 hours.
