Graduation Day for the Octorara Area Homeland Security & Protective Services Academy

KVFD would like to congratulate all the graduates of the Octorara Area Homeland Security & Protective Services Academy. Today the Academy's graduation was held at the Wagontown Fire Hall for all the graduates of the program.

Apparatus from all the agencies who had personnel participating in the Octorara Area Homeland Security & Protective Services Academy attended giving some representation to the students who worked so hard to achieve their goals in the program.

Keystone Valley Fire Department had one Senior member graduate. Justin Entress completed his three years of the program. Junior Firefighter Cory Garver who is a Junior going into his Senior year at Octorara was recognized for his hard work during a marking period. While Junior Firefighter David Jones who is a Sophomore going into his Junior year was also recognized for his hard work during a marking period throughout the year.

KVFD supports the program that is helping those interested in the Emergency Services of Police, Fire & EMS help students achieve their start in a great profession.

The Octorara Area School District hosts the Octorara Area Homeland Security & Protective Services Academy. This program is available to students in all Chester County Schools. This Academy serves students interested in careers in Fire Fighting, Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical, and Emergency Management. This program is an approved PA Department of Education Career Program of Study. Upon completion, it can be credited for post-secondary education and students have the ability to earn State and National job-related certifications, which are required for entry-level positions. The 3-year Academy is located at the Chester County Emergency Services Training Center in Coatesville.
