On Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 around 1250pm, Keystone Valley EMS AMB081 (Supervisor G. Degnan, EMT M. Rohrbach) along with TowerDIRECT Paramedic MED293 (J. Bismuth) were dispatched to Sadsbury Township for a report of a burn victim involving a utility worker that was reportedly electrocuted while working on a pole. Both AMB081 and MED293 made the response from our central station located in Parkesburg Borough within a minute from the time of dispatch.

While EMS units were responding to the scene, the call was upgraded to a cardiac arrest and the Sadsburyville Fire Company was added to the assist.

From the response to on scene in just 3 minutes, crews found a trained bystander performing CPR. EMS crews with the help of the fire crew took over and continued life-saving measures. The Pt was transported to a local hospital where the Pt was awake and talking upon the arrival to the emergency room.

Fire Chief Brian Gathercole says: "Not every call results in a great outcome; however, this incident was something that does not occur every day resulting in a positive outcome. Great work on pre-arrival and services rendered by the crew."

EMS Manager Joe Miles says: "I'm proud of all the individuals who took part during this call, a type not many will see while working in this field. A great collaboration by trained bystanders, our awesome staff members along our cooperative partnership with TowerDIRECT Paramedics and the Sadsburyville Fire Company helped save a life. Fantastic job by all".

Fire Police for KVFD, Sadsburyville Fire Company, and Wagontown Fire Company provided traffic control in the area until the roadway was able to be reopened.

Units: Keystone Valley Fire, Fire Police and EMS
