This week Keystone Valley EMS Career EMTs Tyler DeVoe & Brittany Ward both received a Pre-Hospital Delivery Commendation & Award issued by the Emergency Health Services Federation. During the very early morning hours of August 18th, 2021 Keystone Valley EMS was dispatched to assist our neighboring department Christiana Community Ambulance (Lancaster Ambulance 46) & Southern Chester County Paramedics (Medic 94) to a residence in West Fallowfield Township for an active labor call. Together, all EMS providers assisted with the delivery of twin boys who were transported to a local hospital for follow-up care. Joe Miles, EMS and Career Staff Supervisor, said "Congratulations to all involved! Not many EMS providers have the chance to deliver children in the pre-hospital setting, let alone a pair of twins. KVFD is proud of our career staff members Tyler & Brittany (including one of our volunteers Michael Lavender who was on the crew of Christiana Ambulance that night). We are proud of the partnerships we have with our neighboring EMS agencies." Fun fact! Did you know Keystone Valley Fire Department is 1 of only 8 EMS agencies in Chester County that participate in the Pediatric Voluntary Recognition Program. We are currently certified at the Level III-Advanced level. By the end of this year, we are planning to apply for the Level V-Expert Status as we recently had 6 members of the department certify to become Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technicians and are planning to expand our community outreach program. |
