Last night members of the Sadsburyville and Keystone Valley fire departments attended a class presented by a county fire instructor, Mr.Rick DeGroot, at the Central station on how to best and safely respond to fires in the lightweight construction we are seeing in the County and with the many lightweight construction projects of retail and multifamily homes. The fires move fast and building construction can fail quickly trapping residents and firefighters. Chief DeGroot reviewed several past fires in the area and suggested a strategy to minimize the risk to firefighters, first responders and civilians.
