Working Building Fire In Coatesville City

On February 3rd, 2024, At 10:21 Ladder 8 was dispatched along with neighboring Fire and EMS to assist the Coatesville Fire Department on N. 3rd Avenue in Coatesville City for a reported building fire.

Ladder 8 and other responding agencies made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center the caller reported food on the stove had caught fire and had spread to the cabinets above the stove. The caller also reported that evacuation of the building was in progress.

City Fire personnel arrived to find nothing showing from the exterior of the building. Upon further investigation crews found a kitchen fire as reported and requested a "Working Fire Dispatch" and set up command for this incident. Suppression efforts began by Coatesville fire personnel. Chief 43 (Dobson) arrived and took over the command and as additional units arrived they were given their assignments.

Thanks to the quick response of all units involved the fire was placed under control at 10:40 with personnel performing ventilation, salvage, overhaul operations.

The scene was eventually turned over to the property owner a short time later with the units clearing the scene at 11:14.
