On May 26th, 2024, at 8:05 Coatesville Fire Department along with area mutual aid were dispatched to the 600 block of Merchant Street in Coatesville City for a reported apartment building fire.

Coatesville Fire Department units and mutual aid made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported flames from a 2nd story porch. Ladder 41 arrived to report a 2 story 30x60 multi family apartment building with fire showing from a 2nd story porch. Coatesville Fire Department personnel began fire suppression and ventilation efforts. As additional mutual aid units arrived they were assigned task by Chief 43 (Dobson).

Chief 43 made the proper notifications to Peco and the Red Cross for shelter as 20 civilians were affected by todays fire. The situation was placed under control a short time later with all personnel performing salvage and overhaul operations to check for hot spots.
