On June 21st, 2024, at 20:22 Keystone Valley Fire Department along with area mutual aid were dispatched to assist the Westwood Fire Company in the 400 block of Doe Run Road in East Fallowfield Township for a reported mobile home fire.

Westwood Fire Company units and mutual aid responded and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported a mobile home on fire with dogs trapped inside. East Fallowfield Police Department was the first arriving unit to confirm visible fire with multiple dogs trapped inside.

Chief 44 (McWilliams) requested a “Working Fire Dispatch” which added additional units to the assignment. Chief 44 arrived at 20:30 and assumed the command for this incident. Engine 44-5 arrived at 20:30 and began fire suppression efforts and worked collaboratively with the police department and mutual aid personnel to free the trapped dogs. As the mutual aid units arrived onscene they were given their assignments by the command.

The fire was placed under control at 20:40 with all hands working. Interior crews performed overhaul and ventilation operations to clear the mobile home of smoke. The assignment was scaled back to the units onscene. The Commander requested a response from Peco, Fire Marshal’s as well as the Red Cross.
