| My term as Fire Chief of Parkesburg Fire Company has officially ended as of our Company meeting last evening. First and foremost I want to thank my family, my friends, and the Officers that served with me over the last three years. In these ever changing and very challenging times holding a full time job and volunteering, especially in a leadership position, is difficult and it takes the cooperation of all those I listed to be successful. Over the last three years the committed members of Parkesburg Fire Company have accomplished many things to the credit of each and every active member; recognition by the State Fire Commissioners Office as a 50% Fire 1 Certified Company, updating equipment and operational tactics to meet the needs of the changing community; THOUSANDS of hours of hands on and classroom training in modern firefighting, rescue and hazardous materials tactics and through cooperation with the business community developed a strong working knowledge of the target life hazards in the district. We also made huge strides in our administrative operations as well. Communication and cooperative efforts in the area of funding with the municipalities we serve improved and continue to move forward, our accounting and financial practices were moved into the 21st century by having a sound and proactive Treasurer and we assisted in the development of a steering committee to investigate the consolidation of services between Parkesburg, Pomeroy and Atglen Fire Companies that if successful will not only improve the service that is provided to the community, but will substantially decrease the costs of providing that service. In closing I want to thank the Fire Company, the Municipalities it was my honor to serve and the Community for the support that you gave over the last three years and urge you to continue that support for the incoming administration of the Parkesburg Fire Company. |
