| For the last month on Monday evening training nights, crews at the KVFD have participated in Confidence Drills and testing of their abilities in many different stages. Tonight Monday June 10, 2013 we concluded the confidence courses and will move to the live-burn stages on Friday evening June 14th, 2013. Over 25 active personnel attended the training series this evening and completed the course in Full PPE and SCBA breathing air. The stations consisted of the following TIMED events: 1. Hand-line deployment from the engine, stretching the line to the front-door of the structure. 2. Deployment and set up of a 24 ft extension ladder. 3. Equipment carry of a saw, rope bag and set of irons for approximately 200 feet. 4. Equipment pull of a simulation stage of hooking a ceiling ten times 5. Rescuer drag of removing a person 180 pounds over 100 feet. 6. Utilizing a 10 lb sledge hammer and strike an object ten times to help simulate Forcible entry. All these stages where completed by entering Rehab where EMS personnel documented your vitals. Vitals where documented before and after start and finish. Members completed the timed course with entering Rehab where EMS personnel recorded the results. We would like to thank our (3) Three Captains for the set-up and instructing this training series helping our members progress and being able to move forward in this service. Our end goal is to allow each member to see where they need to be with training and confidence when operating on the fire ground. The KVFD upon completion of the confidence drills plan on attending a live burn which is scheduled this week. |
