Electrical Fire at Keystone Motel Upgraded to Building Response

On Monday, at 10:36 AM, KVFD was dispatched to a reported electrical fire inside a room at the Keystone Motel, 4880 W. Lincoln Highway, West Sadsbury Township.

Deputy 8, Deputy Chief Gathercole responded on Engine 8-1 with three (3). While enroute Chester County Fire Radio advised of a light on fire in Room #207.

Lieutenant 8-B Delestienne arrived on-scene and advised of an active fire in room #207. Lieutenant 8-B assumed the "Keystone Command" and advised Deputy 8 of the status report. Deputy 8 had the incident upgraded to a building response due to the report and nature of the building's construction and multi-occupancy.

Station 8 was re-alerted along with Gap Station 42 and Christiana 52 for two (2) tankers.

Engine 42-2 arrived on-scene and stretched a 1 3/4 line into room #207 making a quick knock on the fire. Crews immediately started opening up the bathroom where the fire was contained.

Rescue 42 arrived on-scene with crews assisting Engine 42-2. When Engine 8-1 arrived on-scene, the crew laid 5' hose into the parking-lot and established the water supply.

Deputy Chief Gathercole assumed the Keystone Command and relieved Lieutenant Deleistienne to become the Operations Officer inside Room 207.

Tanker 52-1 and 52-2 arrived and picked up the 5' line. However, no water was flowed as units contained the fire with what was avaialble.

Due to the quick work of volunteers the incident was contained to Room 207.

Crews remained on-scene and overhauled as the CC Fire Marshals and utilities were requested to respond.

Station # 52 covered the Station #8 area while units were on-scene at the Keystone Motel.

CC Fire Marshal FM 101 arrived on-scene and handled the investigation. It was determined and the source was noted to be a electrical fire and cause was noted to be a ceiling light and fan fixture in the bathroom. The investigation was handled by CC Fire Marshals.

As units were being freed up the CCFR advised of a Motor Vehicle Accident w/entrapment on Route 10 in Sadsbury Twp. Keystone Command advised Engine 42-2 w/6 would respond along with Engine 8-1 w/4 from the fire scene.
