On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 11:49 AM, KVFD was dispatched to assist the City of Coatesville with a reported dwelling fire at 752 E. Chestnut Street, City of Coatesville, PA.

Initially, Ladder 8 was dispatched but no driver was available. All volunteers were facing work and family commitments that restricted their ability to respond to out-of-district calls. But an Engine Company crew assembled, stood-by at the East Station and were soon dispatched on a second alarm for an engine and manpower when Command reported that there was fire extension into the adjacent dwelling. Engine 8-1 made the response and assisted upon arrival doing overhaul in the kitchen of the initial fire building.
