On Sunday, June 8, 2014 the KVFD provided coverage for the Piston Poppers Raceway located in Sadsbury Twp. on Route 30.

Ambulance 8-2 made it’s first public appearance at this early June race for the Eastern Pa Piston Poppers Race.

As an added attraction the Piston Poppers premiered quad racers along with the usual motorcycle racers. Riders' ages ranged from 5 years on up to the senior class 50 and up. Piston Poppers also ran a power-puff or women’s class.

EMT’s observed a few spills, treated one hand injury unrelated to the event, and transported no riders from the event.

KVFD also assisted the flagmen with a safety issue on the track with tools from the ambulance which was mitigated before workers from the opposite end of the track could respond to the issue and kept the program underway.

KVFD would like to thank the Piston Poppers for their assistance and professionalism when medical aid is rendered onto the track during the event.

This event is something that KVFD looks forward to covering. Over the years many of our members within our organization used to race on the same track. This event brings out many of our local residents and racing enthusiasts from around the area.

Our very own EMS Lieutenant Earl Taylor was premiered at Piston Poppers for many years as one of the TOP Finalists each time!
