KVFD assisted by providing EMS and fire stand-by details at three games for Octorara Youth Football at the Primary Learning Center on Sunday, with Utility 8 staging there. While another crew worked an event for the Piston Poppers.

KVFD units Ambulance 8-1 & Squad 8-1 participated again in one of the four events hosted by The Pa Eastern Piston Poppers Motorcycle Club. This month’s event also hosted the District 6 Racers Reunion for the 2nd year in a row with riders from the 60’s, 70’s, & 80’s displaying old memorabilia, static displays of some of their old racing machines which most of the riders shared "old war stories" from days past.

Sunday's events also had a vintage class were some of the old bikes took to the track to show how it was done in the early days of racing. Also at today’s event were Quads which were present as an additional feature for the quad fans. Sammy Halbert, a national rider joined the event and won the 15 lap feature race.

Piston Poppers had a reported attendance of well over 700 spectators with about 165 riders. A silent auction was hosted by “Save the Tata’s” Cancer Benefit for breast cancer awareness.

The ambulance performed no transports but assisted about a half a dozen riders that went down. It was a long day in that crews were on location from noon to 7:30 PM.

Thanks to the volunteers who gave up their weekend to support these events!

Look for KVFD at Iron Spring Farm this week for the 2014 KPWN-NA Keuring, an international event, and on Sunday for football at Octorara. Come out and support Octorara Youth Football!
