A mid-morning press fire at Quad Graphics shut down production and caused the evacuation of the building during a busy time of the year. Fortunately no one was hurt and production is expected to resume shortly. At 10:12 AM, KVFD along with assisting companies from Christiana Fire Company, Gap Fire Company, and Cochranville Fire Company were dispatched to a building fire in the 4000 block of Lower Valley Road, West Sadsbury Township, Chester County. Ambulance 8-2 with two career staff firefighters/EMTs initially responded with Ladder 8, and Engine 8-1 also soon responding. Christiana Engine 52-1 and Tanker 52-2; Cochranville Engine 27-2, Rescue 27, and Engine 27-5; and Gap Truck 42 also responded. Upon arrival FF/EMT Dalmas assumed "Quad Graphics Command" and crews assisted plant personnel with removing paper products from the press, and extinguishing "hot spots" with a 1 3/4" line pulled from Engine 27-2. Crews also went in-service with ventilation. All units returned to service by 11:31 AM. |
