| On Sunday, December 21, 2014, at 11:14 AM, KVFD was requested to assist the police with a furnace malfunction in the unit block of E. Second Avenue, Parkesburg Borough. The police reported that the homeowner's basement was flooded with water and smoke was coming from the furnace. Ambulance 8-1 with career staff responded immediately with Engine 8-1, Engine 8-2, Ladder 8, Tac 8, and a fire police unit also responding. Deputy Chief Gathercole assumed "Second Avenue Command" and crews went into service to make the house safe and pumped water from the basement with two small pumps. Once it was safe, crews cleared and the incident was turned over to the homeowner and a HVAC contractor for repairs and clean-up. All units returned to service by 12:08 PM.
