Tonight at 8:38 PM, KVFD with multiple fire companies from Western Chester County and Eastern Lancaster County, was dispatched to assist the Cochranville Fire Co., with a working house fire in the 800 block of Gap-Newport Pike, Rt.#41.

The West Fallowfield police reported that the house was fully involved. Ambulance 8-2, Ladder 8, Engine 8-2, Tanker 8, Engine 8-1, Engine 8-3, and Rescue 8 responded, all staffed with over 28 firefighters. Upon arrival Ladder 8 went into operation as did Engine 8-2 and all KVFD crews assisted Cochranville firefighters with suppression efforts.

Tanker 8 and other tankers shuttled water throughout the operation.

High wind and extreme cold hampered the efforts to suppress the fire. Fire police from throughout the area had the monumental job of shutting down the highway and re-directing traffic. Chester County Fire Marshals are investigating and PennDOT responded with a truck for the icing conditions.

By 11:30 PM, all KVFD units were cleared and back on station cleaning equipment and re-packing hose. Modena firefighters had been assigned to the Central Station as a stand-by and assisted in re-packing the hose.

There were no injuries reported.
