Why did you join the fire department?

I joined the fire service because of a strong desire to give back to my community.

What are your hobbies and/or interests outside of the fire department?

First and foremost is family. My wife Sharon and our 4 sons, Nathan, Cameron, Tyler and Colin. I am also heavily involved with the Boy Scouts of America on multiple levels, Council, District and Troop.

What do you like best about being part of the fire department?

Brotherhood !!!

What is your most memorable incident?

I suppose my most memorable incident was my first. Plectron went off, "Report to station for special assignment" I arrived at the station to find other members casually getting their turn out gear on, followed by getting on Engine 26-1 which I diid as well. (Absolutely no one was in a rush!) We left the station and preceeded to a location north of Rt. 372 on Rt. 41 just above the railroad bridge. Upon arrival I could see others milling around, some police, an ambulance and others.... I still have know idea what we are doing yet. Jump down from a jump seat on Engine 26-1 and walk up to the scene with a Haligan bar in my hand, all excited to do something. At this time I was briefed on the situation at hand. Picture this.....Mid August, 3 consecutive days of extreme heat. A blue Ford dumptruck had been on the side of Rt. 41 for 3 days in this heat with no visible occupants. Unfornately for the driver, he had a heart attack and slumped over on the seat and baked in the heat for 3 days until Pennsylvania State stopped to check the vehicle. I'll leave the rest to your imagination for the rest of the story......
