At 1:01 PM, KVFD, with the assistance of three Lancaster County fire or EMS companies, was dispatched to a report of sheds on fire at Waterloo Structures, near the Walmart, on W. Lincoln Highway in West Sadsbury Township, Chester County.
KVFD Career staff supervisor, Mike Edwards,(Sgt.8) was in the area and responded immediately finding a 12x18" shed fully involved with two other nearby sheds as exposures. He assumed "Waterloo Command."
Engine 42-2 with Rescue 8 were the first two responding fire suppression units, and two lines from Engine 42-2 were pulled by crews to extinguish the fire.
It appears that the fire was caused by combustibles that were placed too close to a burn barrel.
Fire police with West Sadsbury Township police assisted in diverting or slowing traffic while apparatus was on-scene.
There were no injuries and all units returned to service at 1:41 PM.
Units: Ambulance 46-1, Engine 42-2, Engine 52-2, Rescue 42, and Tanker 52-1. Fire police from 42 and 52.
