KVFD was dispatched to Parkesburg School Apartments on Sunday January 22nd at 1252 hours for an automatic fire alarm.

Crews arrived to find a smoke condition inside an apartment within the complex. Upon investigation it was found that a cell phone was the cause of the smoke condition. The cell phone's lithium-ion battery overheated on the cell phone.

The incident was mitigated on-scene. The cell phone was an older model android phone.

Please use caution and watch your charging systems for possible overheating due to a breakdown in the battery.
