On December 15th, 2023, at 0306 hours the Cochranville Fire Company along with neighboring fire and EMS Agencies were dispatched to 3300 block of Limestone Road in Highland Township for a barn fire.
Cochranville Fire Company units along with Ladder 8, Engine 8, Tanker 8, Utility 8, Rescue 8 & Ambulance 8-1 all made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that multiple calls were received reporting flames from the roof of a barn.
Units arrived to confirm a working chicken coop fire with exposure to a 2nd chicken coop building and a tanker task force was requested to the scene. Engine 27-2's crew stretched handlines and began suppression efforts as additional units arrived their crews assisted with suppression efforts as well. Engine 8 arrived and assumed second-due Engine and pulled a 2 1/2 line and began fire suppression.
Ladder 8 was the first arriving aerial piece and set up on the delta side followed by Truck 4-2 (Gap Fire Company). As the tankers arrived, they were setup on Limestone Road and began shuttling water to the scene. Ambulance 8-1 stood-by on the scene and began rehab services for the personnel on the scene.
Great fire suppression efforts by personnel on-scene contained the fire to the original building and the fire was placed under control 4:38 hours. The assignment was scaled back to 27, 8, 37, 52 units to begin overhaul of the scene with the balance of the assignment being released from the scene.
