December 15, 2023

On December 15th, 2023, at 0306 hours the Cochranville Fire Company along with neighboring fire and EMS Agencies were dispatched to 3300 block of Limestone Road in Highland Township for a barn fire.

Cochranville Fire Company units along with Ladder 8, Engine 8, Tanker 8, Utility 8, Rescue 8 & Ambulance 8-1 all made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that multiple calls were received reporting flames from the roof of a barn.

Units arrived to confirm a working chicken coop fire with exposure to a 2nd chicken coop building and a tanker task force was requested to the scene. Engine 27-2's crew stretched handlines and began suppression efforts as additional units arrived their crews assisted with suppression efforts as well. Engine 8 arrived and assumed second-due Engine and pulled a 2 1/2 line and began fire suppression.

Ladder 8 was the first arriving aerial piece and set up on the delta side followed by Truck 4-2 (Gap Fire Company). As the tankers arrived, they were setup on Limestone Road and began shuttling water to the scene. Ambulance 8-1 stood-by on the scene and began rehab services for the personnel on the scene.

Great fire suppression efforts by personnel on-scene contained the fire to the original building and the fire was placed under control 4:38 hours. The assignment was scaled back to 27, 8, 37, 52 units to begin overhaul of the scene with the balance of the assignment being released from the scene.

Thank you to the Pequea Valley Fire Department and Honey Brook Fire Company for standing by at our station during this incident and covering the Keystone Valley Fire District.
