On August 28th, 2024, at 8:20 Cochranville Fire Company along with Keystone Valley Fire Department EMS, Westwood Paramedics and the Chester County Hazmat team were dispatched to the Octorara Elementary School for a hazardous materials incident.
Cochranville Fire Company and EMS made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported construction workers had been exposed to asbestos while performing work on the building.
Ambulance 8-1 arrived along with the Cochranville Fire Company units to determine that no immediate life threat was present. School District officials acted fast and evacuated everyone from the building as the units were arriving. The situation is currently being monitored closely by the Cochranville Fire Company, Chester Count Hazmat personnel and School District officials.
Ambulance 8-1 was released from the scene by the Deputy 27 (Kocher) at 8:34.
