On September 8th, 2024, Keystone Valley Fire Department Medical Director Herbert Schiffer received a 2024 Stars of Life award at the 17th annual PA Stars of Life Awards Banquet which was hosted at Best Western Premier Hotel & Conference Center in Harrisburg Pa.

The award recognizes EMS providers who: Set an example for others, Exemplify EMS in the community, served honorably for decades, and cured a patient in a heroic or life-saving way. Dr. Schiffer started his 27-year career in the former Parkesburg Fire Company working as an EMT and over the years working his way up the ladder to a medical doctor. Doctor Schiffer currently oversees numerous EMS Agencies throughout the commonwealth as he is currently employed as an emergency room doctor for Tower Health's Reading Hospital.

Keystone Valley Fire Department is pleased to have Dr. Schiffer as our Medical Director as he is not only our Director but he is a friend, colleague and a shining example for up-and-coming medical professionals.
