On Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 Parkesburg Fire Company was dispatched at 10:55 pm to assist the Pomeroy Fire Company for the upgrade to a building fire at Chestnut and Middle Streets in the Pomeroy section of Sadsbury Township.
Pomeroy Fire Company was initially dispatched at 10:49 pm for a reported dumpster fire at the above location. Pomeroy Assistant Chief Tribbett arrived on scene with Pomeroy Engine 29-5 and reported that the fire had spread from the dumpster to an adjacent building, and additional units from the Sadsburyville and Parkesburg Fire Companies were dispatched to assist.
Engine 28, Tower 28 and Rescue 28 all responded at 11:01 pm and upon arrival at 11:04 pm were ordered to ladder the roof of the adjacent building and assist with opening up the roof and fire extinguishment.
Sadsburyville Fire Company Engine 31-2 was instructed to stop at a fire hydrant in the area of Old Wilmington Road and Middle Street to establish a water supply to the scene.
All fire company personnel worked together at the scene helping to quickly suppress the fire before it extended to the entire building.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Chester County Fire Marshals Office.
Thank you to the Christiana Fire Company and Gap Fire Company for the stand by covering Parkesburg's territory while we were committed to Pomeroy. Your assistance is always appreciated.
