On June 19th, 2025, at 13:12 Sadsburyville Fire Company along with Keystone Valley Fire Department EMS were dispatched to mile marker 267.0 West Bound on the Route 30 Bypass for an auto accident.
Sadsburyville Fire Company units along with Keystone Valley Fire Department EMS made the response and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported a tractor trailer struck a tractor cutting grass on the bypass and went over the guardrail. The call was then upgraded to serious which added several additional units including the Chester County Hazmat team as there was a diesel leak from the tractor trailer. Additional callers reported a large fuel spill, and the operator of the tractor trailer was being extricated from the truck by bystanders.
Arriving units found that the tractor trailer had indeed went over the guardrail of the Route 30 Bypass and ended up on Old Mill Road. Crews also confirmed that the operator of the truck was extricated from the vehicle. Ambulance 8-1, Ambulance 8-2, Medics from Westwood Fire Company arrived, and their crews began care of the patient. Rescue 31 arrived and confirmed a large fuel spill that had already entered the stream as the cab of the tractor trailer came to rest in the "Buck Run Creek". Sadsburyville Fire Company personnel held the command for this incident and requested additional EMS units to the scene as there were numerous people injured.
As additional resources arrived, they were given their assignments by the commander. 2 people were transported to an area hospital as a result of their injuries from this accident. The command requested a fire police task to assist with shutting down the Route 30 Bypass West Bound and other local roads. Ambulance 8-2 remained on the scene to provide rehab for the personnel operating on the scene due to the extreme heat. The command made numerous notifications to agencies which DEP and Penndot were a few notified.
Due to this incident committing the Sadsburyville Fire Company Keystone Valley Fire Department had personnel on standby at our station to handle additional emergencies in the area.
