| On Monday evening August 25th, 2025, KVFD had a special event to thank Chief Engineer Gary Myers & his wife Tina for all their contributions and sacrifices for Western Chester County.
It is not until moments like this you realize how the volunteer fire service is built upon tradition, family and dedication.
Gary Myers contributed so much time to a volunteer profession that it was like a second home, or a place that required more attention than his home for 43 years. The apparatus of Parkesburg, now KVFD was already ready to service, 100% of the time. This came from the time, commitment and dedication of Gary.
Gary joined Parkesburg Fire Company in 1983. His contribution to the service grew from there:
•Life Member Parkesburg FC Offices Held: • Fire Captain: 1987 •1st assist Chief: 1988-1994 •Deputy Chief: 1995- •Chief Motor Engineer: 1984-2012 •President of Parkesburg FC: 2000 •FF of the year •Delano Large Memorial Award KVFD Offices Held: Chief Motor Engineer: 2013-Present
Gary was supported throughout his volunteer career through his family and wife. His wife Tina Myers joined Parkesburg FC in 1988 and has been by his side long before that.
Tina also held the following positions:
•Life Member •Treasurer • Secretary •Payroll Accountant •Tina always took part behind the scenes at KVFD with financial assistance from APA.
The evening consisted of great food and deserts prepared by Chairman Robert Guiney and his wife Tammy “Spoiled Guiney” Kitchen. The Officers and members of KVFD took part in the event by coming out and saying farewell to a great part of KVFD.
House of Representative Dan K. Williams (House District 74) participated and provided Gary Myers with a Proclamation for all of his 43 years of service to Western Chester County. House Rep Williams read the language presented thanking someone who dedicated his entire life to public service. Thank you to Representative Dan K. Williams for coming out to KVFD.
The Members of KVFD followed up with presenting Gary Myers with a dedication of part of KVFD. The Engineers Room was dedicated to Gary Myers along with Ladder 8. Ladder 8 was built with many hours of planning and contribution by Gary Myers. Both will have a representation of dedication to Myers on them.
Thank you to Chairman Tom Scott from Highland Township and Keystone Valley Regional Fire District for coming out and attending the event. Tom acknowledged all the commitment from Gary Myers throughout the year.
As stated, each time Ladder 8 responds now will have a piece of Gary Myers on it. This as we know was his favorite unit in which he spent countless hours taking care of.
The Officers and Members of KVFD wish Tina & Gary Myers the best in their retirement and move from Western Chester County. As they move closer to family & their grandchildren, we wish them the best and thank them for their sacrifice.
A loss to Western Chester County Public Services. However, a loss we respect and cherish as we were able to say Thank-you for their service. |
