Halloween Night Apartment Fire – West First Avenue, Parkesburg Borough
On October 31, 2025, at 2009 hours, the Keystone Valley Fire Department (KVFD) was dispatched to the 400 block of West First Avenue for a reported apartment fire.
Parkesburg Police arrived on scene at 2012 hours and confirmed an active fire on the second floor, Charlie Side, of the structure. Officers made entry, deployed a fire extinguisher, and successfully knocked down the main body of fire while encountering a heavy smoke condition.
Ladder 8 arrived first due at 2013 hours with smoke showing from a second-floor apartment and requested a working fire dispatch, bringing additional resources.
Ladder 8’s crew advanced an attack line to the rear of the building and confirmed that the fire had been extinguished upon entry with extensive smoke. Engine 8 arrived shortly thereafter and assumed the second-due engine assignment.
Chief 52 (Lanco) arrived and established First Avenue Command. The fire was quickly contained, and the incident was mitigated without further extension.
Several mutual-aid companies assisted on scene. The Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office responded and is investigating the cause of the fire.
Due to Trick-or-Treat activities concluding at the time of dispatch, a rapid response was noted from both Parkesburg Police and KVFD personnel, contributing to the swift containment of the incident.
